ASSISTEXT V.2

The core of this project is an advancement of the first version of “Assistext,” evolving into “Assistext Version 2,” which has been improved to better serve the needs of visually impaired users. The new version includes additional control buttons and Braille labels, allowing users to recognize the function of each button by touch. The device features two main buttons: a circular button used to capture images of text on paper for processing and converting into speech, and another button that allows users to retake and replay the reading as needed.

One of the major issues found in the first version was inconsistent lighting across different environments, which affected image clarity and text recognition accuracy. To address this, I integrated a Smart Camera capable of automatically adjusting brightness in real time according to ambient light conditions, resulting in more efficient image processing. Additionally, an Arduino Nano was added to receive input from an analog volume control knob, enabling users to easily adjust the audio level.
